Have you ever wondered about something, folks? Can dogs tell if their owner is male or female? In fact, when it comes to this question, not only are you unsure, but scientists are too. There’s no solid research or conclusive evidence on the matter yet. However, scientists have certainly tried to explore this question.

Can Dogs Tell the Difference Between Men and Women?
There has been an experiment on this topic. Scientists attempted to test whether dogs could differentiate human gender through their senses. The experiment went like this: a sound source was placed in front of the dog, and on the left and right sides, a man and a woman stood. By switching between male and female voices in the sound source, the scientists observed whether the dog looked towards the direction matching the gender of the sound. This was used to determine if dogs could distinguish between male and female humans. The experiment involved 51 dogs of various breeds. The results were quite interesting. Dogs living with single men or single women performed relatively poorly, often looking in the wrong direction. However, dogs that lived with two or more adults (at least one male and one female) performed much better. Over 80% of these dogs correctly identified the gender. Based on this result, we can infer that dogs that have lived with both male and female family members are more likely to be able to tell human gender.

Since Dogs Can Tell the Difference Between Men and Women, Do They Prefer Their Male or Female Owners?
There have been several experiments done to answer this question. The dog is placed in the middle, and both the father and mother run in opposite directions to see which one the dog follows. The result is always the same: the dog follows the mother. Does this mean that dogs prefer women? Not necessarily. Many of these videos are just for fun. A dog’s preference is mostly related to past experiences and accumulated interactions. That is, based on the gender of the humans they’ve interacted with most and who has provided them with the best experiences, they will prefer that gender. If we were to claim that women have a special attraction to dogs, there are some common beliefs circulating online:Women’s voices are higher-pitched, which dogs can hear more clearly.Women are generally cleaner than men, and their body temperature is lower.Women are smaller in stature, which makes them less threatening to dogs.Female owners tend to have more patience and spend more time interacting with dogs. Most households that decide to adopt a dog are women-led.However, there are no accurate experiments or data to confirm that dogs actually prefer women more than men. Dogs are simple creatures; they don’t have any real preferences. They love whoever shows them affection. If you frequently give them tasty treats, take them out for walks, and spend time playing with them, you are likely their favorite person.
Even if dogs have the ability to distinguish gender, they really don’t care about it. Even though dogs may seem a bit clueless at times, they actually know very well who truly loves them.
